Poncha

Invented by sailors who needed to take lemons and oranges on board ships to prevent scurvy, still today it is considered medicine!

The sailors would preserve the fruit in rum and then add sugar or honey to make it drinkable.

The two most traditional are the Poncha Regional, which is lemon juice and maybe some orange juice, our rum and honey; and the Poncha à Pescador, which is lemon, rum and sugar. It is infallible in curing colds and flu and broken hearts!
