Pawpaw

The pawpaw or papaia is commonly found in back gardens on the island, usually in clumps of three or four trees, for theses plants can be male, female or hermaphrodite.

When ripe it is peeled and deseeded and eaten as a dessert, sometimes with some lemon juice and a splash of Madeira Wine.
